The 2053 Foldaway Deer is a fullgrain deer leather outback hat, extremely soft and feather light, that folds into its own travel bag. It’s handcrafted in Minnesota.

Pick it up and the weight is the first thing you notice, or the lack of it. Then the feel. Deer leather is soft in the hand, and because it’s fullgrain, the outer grain layer of the hide is left intact. You get a hat that feels gentle on your head and still stands up to real use.

That light weight matters most when you’re carrying everything you own. Backpacking, canoe trips, a long walk through a city in the sun. Fold the hat into the supplied bag and it takes up very little room. It’s water resistant and has 50+ UV protection, so it can come out of the bag and go straight to work on the trail or the water.

Three colors: Black, Natural and Tobacco. Black is the dressiest of the three.

Fit is easy to get right. Check the size chart, and if you’re between sizes, choose the larger size and use the free sizing kit to fine-tune the fit.
