3000 Original Magic Hat

A tall-crown frayed canvas hat

The 3000 Original Magic Hat is a heavy duty cotton canvas hat with a tall crown, a wide brim and naturally frayed edges, handcrafted in Minnesota.

It’s a hat with a personality. The crown stands 5 1/2 inches tall, which gives it a bold, slightly whimsical shape you won’t mistake for anything else in our catalog. The brim is 3 1/2 inches at the front and sides and 3 inches at the back. Loose threads along the edges are part of the design, so no two hats look quite the same, and they only look more relaxed with wear.

Wear it to festivals, art fairs and farmers markets. It goes to the garden. It goes to the beach. Expect a few people to ask where you got it.

The four colors cover a lot of ground: Black, Natural, Olive and Navy Blue. Natural is the lightest and most casual. Black is the most striking.

Choosing your size

The Magic Hat comes in Small through XLarge, and the measurements are in the size chart in the product details on this page. Wrap a soft tape around your head about a finger’s width above the eyebrows and just above the ears, then pick the matching size. Our how to measure your hat size guide walks through it step by step.

Like the look of frayed canvas in a lower profile? The 3360 Beachcomber uses the same fabric and colors and folds into a travel bag. Care is easy: if the hat gets wet, let it air dry at room temperature.
