The 1022 Squashy Bronco Cooper Crossing is a foldable outback hat made from premium full-grain cattle leather and handcrafted in Minnesota, USA. It’s the same body as our 1022 Squashy Bronco, finished with a Cooper Crossing hatband in place of the standard band.

That’s what this hat is for. Long days outdoors, in whatever the weather does. The vintage oiled and waxed finish sheds water, the leather is water resistant, and the hat has 50+ UV protection for those hours in the sun.

A waxed hat also tells you where it’s been. The finish darkens with handling and collects marks from sweat, rain and work, and over a few seasons it settles into a look that’s yours. Full-grain leather keeps the outer grain layer of the hide, so what you see is the real surface of the leather.

Colors, packing and fit

The free Hat Sizing Kit is in the box. Measure your head with a soft tape about a finger’s width above the eyebrows and just above the ears, and find your size on the leather hat chart, Small through XXLarge. The two foam strips go under the sweatband to fine-tune the fit. Between sizes? Choose the larger one and let the kit handle the rest.

After a soaking, air dry it at room temperature away from heaters, and condition the leather now and then. If you’d rather have the standard band, the 1022 Squashy Bronco comes in the same five colors.
