The 1022 Squashy Bronco is a leather outback hat made from premium full-grain cattle leather, handcrafted in Minnesota, USA, and built to fold into a travel bag. Its vintage oiled and waxed finish is designed to look old when new.

It comes in five colors, more than most of our Squashy hats: Black, Chocolate, Driftwood, Olive and Rustic. Driftwood and Olive are a little out of the ordinary for a leather hat. Black and Chocolate are the classics.
Whichever you pick, the finish will change with you. An oiled and waxed hide sheds water and darkens where your hands grab the brim, and it gathers small marks from fence lines, tackle boxes and truck cabs. Full-grain leather keeps the outer grain layer of the hide. It’s water resistant with 50+ UV protection.
Folding it is simple. It goes into the supplied travel bag, so it can ride in a saddlebag, a backpack or an overhead bin. The packable travel hats guide has more on how our Squashy hats travel.
A free Hat Sizing Kit comes with it. Measure your head, find your size on the leather hat chart (Small to XXLarge), and use the two foam strips under the sweatband to fine-tune the fit. Landing between sizes is easy to handle: choose the larger and fine-tune it with the kit. For care, air dry it at room temperature away from heaters and condition the leather now and then. I love this Hat, best I’ve ever owned and wore. I’ve gotten more compliments than anything else I’ve owned, with the exception of my vintage 1972 FLH Electra Glide, black, polished aluminum, chrome, crossover short fishtail pipes and ape hangers.
